ADVOCATE for KEEPING PUBLIC LANDS OPEN FOR ALL USERS.

 

• NETWORKING with other trail associations, Multiple Use Coalitions, Horse Councils, all Local, State and Federal agencies involved with public land issues and management

 

EDUCATION for promoting trail riding using Low Impact & Leave No Trace guidelines, trail routes, location conditions, degree of terrain difficulty, camping opportunities, local information resources, availability of other recreational resources

 

• SDTR Newsletter for members published four times a year. Contains information on current issues, a list of seasonal trail rides, proposed management changes on public lands, SDTR meetings and activities of the organization

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Alkali Creek Horse Camp..a joint SDTR/BLM project located in the historic Fort Meade Recreational Area, Sturgis, SD
  
• Bridge Builder project in cooperation with SD Dept of Game, Fish & Parks located in the Greenwood area of the 110 mile George S. Michelson Trail
  
• Volunteered hours, dollars and materials for trail maintenance, campground improvements, member educational programs and public information programs
