Meeting Saturday March 17th, Sioux
Falls, SD The meeting was called to order by
Vice-President Keith Fischer at 4:35 P.M. Secretarys Report The minutes of the 2006 Fall Meeting
were read by Debbie Hagen. There was a motion
(Dale Hagen/Larry Schumacher) to accept the minutes as read motion passed. Treasurers Report Debbie Hagen reported that the bank
balance as of the end of 2006 was $2,067.01. The 2006 Annual Report was presented. Total income for 2006 was $916.00; total expenses
were $1322.08. There was a motion (Jeanne Heitz/Dean Koster) to accept the treasurers
report motion carried. Old Business Dusty Jager received a letter from the
Governor of SD regarding the equestrian trails at Oakwood State Park. New trails have been plotted and equestrian trails
will continue to be present at the park. Denny
Jager and Dusty spoke with someone at the Parks and Recreation Office and the manager at
Oakwood S.P. was building the new trails. Denny
will go over to the park and see what has been added.
SDTR need to make contact with the park manager and see if there is
something we can do to help develop new areas for riding.
Discussion of this topic followed. Denny
and Donna Kaiser will contact the park and see what the future plans for trails are. Discussion from the fall meeting
continued on the topic of joining the Back Country Horseman organization. There was a motion (Denny Jager/Larry Schumacher)
that we not pursue a membership with this organization at this time. The motion passed. Deb Hagen presented the 2007
membership invoices for the SD Horse Council and the Black Hills Recreational Multi-Use
Coalition. There was discussion as to whether
we should continue our membership with the BHRMU group.
In looking at the membership list, the SDTR is the only equine organization
that is a member of this group. It was thought
that we should continue to have representation, even if it is in name only. There was a motion (Dale Hagen/Donna Kaiser) to
renew the membership for 2007 motion carried. Dusty
Jager will look into the meetings when he is available in the area. There was a motion (Dale Hagen/Larry
Schumacher) to renew our 2007 membership in the SD Horse Council motion passed. There was discussion regarding Trail
#9 as to whether or not we should provide more Black Hills Forest brochures for the Forest
Service. Our 5 year contract with the Forest
Service has been completed and the FS has not requested more brochures for this year. There was a motion (Dale Hagen/Dean Koster) that
any current or future donations for Trail #9 will be earmarked specifically for that
project, but if any new general trail donations come in we will use those for trail
maintenance statewide. The funds would be
approved by the SDTR at a general meeting. Motion
passed. New Business There were some suggestions for
possible locations to hold the annual Fall Ride over Labor Day week-end. A committee of Keith Fischer, Dean Koster, and
Jeanne Heitz was formed to investigate locations for 2007 and 2008. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 P.M. This site maintained by Kelli Shryock. Contact Webmaster.
