We take great pride in the fact that we are a family-oriented operation and have been in the horse and cattle business for four generations. Our family and livestock are the two most important aspects here on the Valnes Ranch. We have turned our family passion for horses and cattle into a successful breeding program, as well as a way of life.
The Valnes Ranch is located east of beautiful Eden, South Dakota. The ranch operates on several thousand acres of rolling hills and lush green grass.

Reg. Quarter Horses
Horses have always been a major part of our lives as they have been for generations as we use our horses to work with our Red Angus cattle operation. To do this we need horses with a good sound mind, structurally correct and willingness to work hard, and riding some with good looks and color makes it even better, why not work hard and look good doing it. Our Motto is: If you can't ride the stallion or the mares, then you shouldn't raise a colt from them. The pedigree, of our stallions, speaks for themselves, but we also know that the stallion is only half of our operation. We have a powerful set of mares on the ranch with different types of pedigrees so you should be able to find the type of horse that will fit your needs whether it is Roping, Barrels, Cutting, pleasure or just a good all-around ranch horse, that will work hard and cover some country for you.

Reg. Red Angus
We have a very even well balanced herd of bulls and cows. We have many outcross sired bulls to add new genetics into your herd, which we know as commercial cattlemen ourselves is very important to continue to add new genetics with the growing demands of the beef industry. We put many miles on, looking for new genetics without following fads or trends. Our selection of herd sires, is based on what both traits of the mother cow and the sire will add to the calf and the overall structure of the animal. Not just numbers on paper. Our belief is whether you raise commercial cattle or purebred cattle, we truly put all our cattle to the test. Each animal must be efficient, with low maintenance requirements, good feet, udders and breed back easy despite the 40 below weather, heat and humidity in the summer plus other environments that we live in to be able to raise a good calf come fall without creep feed.
